Nifedipine in Asian populations with hypertension

BP lowering

Long-term BP lowering effects in elderly Asian patients with hypertension

  • STONE was a single-blind trial that enrolled elderly Chinese hypertensive patients (60–79 years; n=1632) for treatment with long-acting nifedipine or placebo1
  • Long-acting nifedipine mean SBP was reduced with over a 12-month period1
  • The proportion of patients on active treatment who achieved the target BP goal of SBP <160 mmHg and DBP <90 mmHg was 65%1

Real-world efficacy

Adalat GITS in Asian patients with hypertension – real-world efficacy

A large observational study (n=14,509) of hypertensive patients from China (n=3676), Indonesia (n=1414), Mexico (n=454), the Middle East (n=1486), Morocco (n=524), Pakistan (n=1525), Saudi Arabia (n=1496) and Taiwan (n=3934) showed that Adalat GITS/oral delivery system (OROS) was effective at reducing BP in patients with baseline hypertension (≥140/90 mmHg).2

Adalat GITS reduced BP in a real-life setting, including hypertensive patients from Asia (73%)2
